Rajmachi (Udhewadi) is a small village in the rugged mountains of Sahyadri in Maharashtra. The fortification at Rajmachi consists of two forts, namely Shrivardhan Fort and Manaranjan Fort. Rajmachi Fort is a popular trekking destination. It is a very famous fort located near famous hill stations of Maharashtra, Lonavala and Khandala. Fort has been declared as a protected monument.

Kondana Caves are located in the small village of Kondana. This cave group has 16 Buddhist caves. The caves were excavated in first century B.C. These consist of intricate and delicate carvings of Buddhist architecture.

The beauty of these caves is enhanced in the monsoons by the waterfalls nearby. It is a sight that should not be missed and the water descends from the top of the caves.

Things to Carry

  • Identity Proof (Mandatory)

  • Ready to eat food like plum cakes, dry fruits etc.

  • Good Trekking shoes
  • Rain coat/ Poncho / Wind cheater please avoid umbrellas
  • Personal care stuff, ORS, medicines which you require usually
  • Put essentials like money, spare clothes in a polythene bag inside the bag
  • Haversack to put all the things in, please do not carry sling bags or jholas
Itinerary

Day 1

• 06:30 hrs – Catch train for Lonavala from Mumbai or Pune.
• 09:00 hrs – Reach Lonavala, meet the team and catch private vehicle for Fanasrai(The Trek Start Point)
• 10:30 hrs – Start the trek after breakfast & a brief introduction session. 6km plain hike to Rajmachi from Fanasrai i.e. 2 2.5 hrs. Enjoy waterfalls on the way
• 13:30 hrs – Reach Udhewadi and have homely local lunch.
• 16:30 hrs – Start trek to Shreevardhan Fort , Reach the top, explore the fort and spend some time soaking in the beauty
• 18:30 hrs – Come Back to the village & have tea.
• 20:00 hrs – Dinner is served!!!
• 22:00 hrs – Play some games and have a good nights sleep

Day 2

• 06:30 hrs – Wake up & get fresh!!
• 08:00 hrs – Have breakfast & Get ready to start the descend
• 08:30 hrs – Start the trek towards Kondana Caves(Karjat Side)
• 11:30 hrs – Reach Konadana Caves and explore the area.
• 12:30 hrs – Reach the base village and have delicious Lunch.
• 13:30 hrs – Say your goodbyes with a promise to meet again, leave for Karjat in our private vehicle. We will each Karjat Station by 3pm(we may reach 1 hour early or late) catch the train back to Mumbai/Pune. This brings us to the end of our trip, Or rather just the beginning of your adventures with Wandering Souls

How will you contact me once I register?

We will be mailing you the details about the trek a day or two before the trek. We will also create a WhatsApp group a day before the trek.

What is the difficulty level of this trek?

This trek is of moderate with around 4-5 hours of hike each day.

Will I be able to do this trek? I have not trekked before.

We encourage you to come and experience the trek with us. Trekking is not about speed and our representatives will be there to encourage you to complete the trek

What is the age limit for this trek?

The age limit for the trek is 18 years with no upper limit. Participants below the age of 18yrs need to be accompanied by a guardian

Can I come alone?

Yes, many of our participants are solo travellers.

Is it safe for a female solo traveller?

It is completely safe for a female solo traveller as our representatives will be there with you all the time. Moreover, most of our event have 60% female participation.

Can I Bring my Car?

Bringing your own car is not recommended as the start point and end point of the trek are different

Are washrooms available during the trek?

You will not get washrooms during the trek. Washrooms are available at the base village.

What is the stay like?

It would be a dormitory type accommodation at a villager’s home

Can we smoke or drink alcohol?

Smoking or drinking alcohol is prohibited.

Would I get cellular connectivity?

You will get limited connectivity during the trek.

What type of food will I get?

We will be having locally cooked meals

Will I get water during the trek?

You won’t get water during the trek, you need to carry at least 2 litres of water with you

What if I have a medical emergency?

We will carry first aid kit with us. The coordinators will be first aid certified. If the problem increases, we will quickly get you to closest medical attention possible.

What kind of clothing we need to wear?

We recommend you wear full sleeve t-shirt and full pants. Also carry a Raincoat/ wind cheater for the rains. Umbrellas are a strict NO.

Do I need special shoes?

We recommend trekking shoes or good quality sports shoes with firm sole

  • Basic Washroom facility available at the village, it is trekking activity and not a leisure trip so one needs to prepare themselves accordingly
