Himalayas lets you venture into a few treks in winter that are as adventurous and stunning  like Brahmatal. the amount of snow at the trek teases every trekker to take up the challenge. Forests coupled with impressive  views of the Himalayas is a treat to the shutterbugs. Brahmatal reveals  a heavenly facet in winter when the snow gently falls on its slopes. The frozen lake with the mighty Himalayan peaks overlooking it, creates a mesmerizing ambiance. The trekkers are awed by the views of summits over 7000 meters. Where else would we encounter such high peaks at such close proximity, we wonder!

  • This winter trek will take you through a journey of some of the unknown places with the best views of the mountains.

Itinerary

Day 1 - 7th FebDrive from Dehradun to Lohajung | 300km, 7-8 hours

The drive from foothills of the Himalayas to the basecamp Lohajung is in itself a nice prelude to the trek. With its green cover, flowing rivers, Deodar forests and panoramic views the long drive is worth it.

Day 2 - 8th FebTrek from Lohajung to Bekaltal | 6.3 Km, 4-5 hours

The well laid stone trail passes through rhododendron trees (in full bloom during February and March) and enters oak forest to get to Bekaltal. Bekaltal, hemmed in by the oak trees, is a sight to behold during winter when it is frozen over.

Day 3 - 9th Feb Bekaltal to Brahmatal | 7.5 km, 4-5 hours

The sight of the frozen shores of Brahmatal Lake with a solitary oak tree on one corner is a sight that’s worth the climb. The campsite of the Brahmatal is an opportunity for your inner photographers where you can capture the classic frozen lake & snowpeaks.

Day 4 - 10th FebBrahmatal to Brahmatal top and back | 7.6 Km, 5-6 hours

While ascending , look out for magnificent Himalayan ranges on your right, especially Mt. Trishul, which is very close along with Nandaghunti. If the weather id being kind, you will a spectacular view of the complete Himalayan range from this trail

Day 5 - 11th Feb Brahmatal to Lohajung |8.6 Km, 6-7 hours

The trail takes you back to civilization. The settlements you’ll see have few crops(Mostly potatoes) which villagers grow for few months. You will find the familiar man-made stone trail , which will lead you back to Lohajung.

Day 6 - 12th FebLohajung to Dehradun | 300km, 7-8 hours

Say your goodbyes, this brings us to the end of an EPIC escapade to the mountains and beginning of an era of travel stories with Wandering souls. Come back for more and more. You will reach Dehradun by 7pm

How will you contact me once I register?

We will be mailing you the details once you register. We will also create a WhatsApp group of all the participants

What is the age limit for this trip?

The age limit for the trek is 18 years

Can I come alone?

Yes, many of our participants are solo travellers.

Is it safe for a female solo traveller?

It is completely safe for a female solo traveller as our representatives will be there with you all the time. Moreover, most of our event have 60% female participation.

How are the washroom arrangements?

Clean & basic washroom facility available at Guest House at Sankri. Toilet tents during the trek

Would I get cellular connectivity?

You will get limited connectivity during the trek.

What type of food will I get?

Locally cooked veg meals

What if I have a medical emergency?

We will carry first aid kit with us. The coordinators will be first aid certified. If the problem increases, we will quickly get you to closest medical attention possible.

What kind of clothing we need to wear?

Winter wear and hiking pants and T-shirts. We will send you a detailed list once you register

What is the stay like?

We will be staying in a guest house in Lohajung and in Tents while trekking

Disclaimer
  • It is trekking activity and not a leisure trip so one needs to prepare themselves accordingly
  • Smoking and drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited.
  • Please avoid wearing Gold and other jewellery.
  • A planned activity or programs may be cancelled or revised depending on the weather or any other unavoidable circumstances
COVID Safety Guidelines
  • Each member of the group (participants/trek leads) will need to wear protective masks while interacting with others.
  • It should be ascertained from the participants that they are not residing / have not travelled in a containment zone and have not come in contact with any person who was tested Covid positive in last 14 days.
  • The accommodation will be thoroughly sanitised
  • Follow safe health practices in case you want to cough, sneeze in public space or during activity.
  • Trek Lead would be carrying sanitizer, spare masks, few pairs of disposable gloves (in sufficient quantity) as a Covid Protection Kit.
  • It is mandatory that a participant informs the organisers if he tests positive for Covid within 14 days of returning from adventure activity. It will help the organisers to inform and alert all other persons in the group and concerned health authorities of Government, so that they can follow the medical/government norms in this regard. Here it is absolutely essential that the participant observes transparency and informs the organisers/group leaders about his Covid test results. Organisers should actively pursue this matter with participants as this is a mutual responsibility.
